Really cosy hotel with very friendly and helpful staff which made my stay very enjoyable. Location is absolutely fantastic.

Stayed for two nights. Hotel is in a fantastic location and it was fairly clean in my room at least. However, it is very basic and when the basic things are not good, then it becomes a sad experience. The wifi was excellent in the hotel, which is good, because it was often difficult to get a phone signal in that area. In general most of the staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived before check-in opened, which I presume is common for business travellers, and had to get to a meeting. Because we had to leave and couldn't wait for the check-in to open, we were offered to leave our luggage in front (!) of the reception desk. We didn't and took it along in a car again. I don't think anyone would have made off with it, but it would have been very inconvenient for other travellers. When we then checked in later, we got rooms on different floors. I was in 242, which was up close to the roof with a view of another roof and nothing else. Too bad, as the hotel has nice sea views. The room was warm and clean, but also very tired looking. Bed was wide but quite short and my feet stuck out unless I was on the diagonal. Very small cheap tv, which had a very annoying sharp flashing blue standby light. During my stay I found out that the shower holder was broken and that the window could only stay open when propped up by something. I reported that to reception and they promised to fix it, but it was never done. In fact the shower head holder was put back in place during cleaning, but fell down again, when I used the shower. I also had trouble with the electrics, which only worked partly unless you got the card in the switchbox just right. Coffee and tea selection was ok, but digestives instead of biscuits was a bit of a letdown. The fan in the bathroom wouldn't run without the card in the switch, so the room became rather humid after showers and I couldn't keep the window open.My colleague had a room on the ground floor straight on the water. 224. Beautiful view, but she also had mold in the corner of the room. She said it was quite cold.Breakfast in the hotel was at best average. There was the usual stuff, but none of it of very high quality. The coffee was pour yourself filter coffee though there was a fance coffee maker in the room. I'm happy that I wasn't vegetarian because the hot food was not kept very well apart. There was some fresh fruit, but apples were unwashed and bananas were green. There was a bit of grapefruit, i think, for yogurts. Staff was friendly, but some of them weren't very good at keeping an eye on tables to clear plates and rubbish when needed. The hotel has a bar, but it didn't look like a place I'd visit as a non-local, so can't comment much on it. Typical Tennent's based beer selection.

The hotel is a nice place. The receiptist was more than polite and answered all questions that I had. The beds were alittle harder than I would of liked them to be. The pillows weren't as soft as I was hoping but overall it was a comfortable stay.

The hotel was exactly as I expected. It still smelt of old cigarettes and the decor hadn't been updated since the 80s. My room was fine, but smaller than the cabin on the ferry. Its a great location and the staff are friendly. My mattress was so old the springs had gone and I ended up sleeping on the hard bottom part. I would stay here again as choice in Lerwick is limited. Overall, it was just OK!

Lovely location, amazing views from some of the rooms, breakfast was good but the hotel needs updating. New windows need to be put in to allow guests to open them for fresh air. Floors and bed creak so every movement is heard.
